Nous avons apprécié l'accueil et le service très dévoué. La propreté et la bonne organisation sont remarquables. L'eau nous a paru un peu chaude mais c'était notre première expérience dans un onsen. La communication en anglais est limitée mais la chaleur du service compense.

We enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Kiritani Hakoneso very much. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, the staff courteous and helpful and the onsen relaxing.
The food at both dinner and breakfast was delicious, though next time we would prefer a Japanese-style (tatami) private dining room.

We enjoyed a lot our stay at the Kiritani Hakoneso Ryokan. The staff is very kind (and speaks good English), the meals were wonderful (fine Japanese cuisine) and we had a very good time in the Onsen.
We had to leave early (5am) on our last day. We didn't expect any kind of breakfast since the time was insanely early, but the lady at the reception desk offered to get some Nigiri prepared for us that we would pick-up when leaving the keys. On departure day, we didn't see the nigiris and headed for the station. Well, just before the train left, a gentleman rushed into the car and delivered us a full-fledged Bentô with nigiris. He had made all the way from the hotel to the station, at 5am, to deliver this breakfast!
I think this explains how the Ryokan Kiritani Hakoneso gave us a strongly positive impression :)

The staff at the Ryokan took good care of me. The food was really good and beautifully presented. The onsen was also very good. I enjoyed my stay very much and would certainly want to return - next time, I will bring my family.

We had a great night in your Ryokan during our honeymoon, discovered a traditional Japanese food we enjoyed, and we relaxed in an Onsen outside in the rain at dusk ... Divine. Thank you again for your hospitality and for the wonderful memories.

We highly recommend this ryokan. We were very well taken care of from the moment we arrived. The service was more than impeccable - it was also warm and friendly. (Our host unexpectedly presented our son with a hard-to-get anime-related souvenir as we were checking out). The traditional Japanese dinner at the ryokan had many different interesting dishes, and was quite filling. We enjoyed the onsen, and slept surprisingly well on our tatami mats. The cost of the stay was extremely reasonable.
The only regret we had was that we had not booked at least one more night so that we could explore Hakone more thoroughly. This wild, green, mountainous area is astonishingly beautiful. At the time we were there - late July - there were giant blue-purple lobelia blossoms growing everywhere along the train tracks. We visited Owakudani, the biggest hot springs in the area; well worth seeing, and the cable car ride there gives a superb view of the mountains. In retrospect, we would have liked to visit Lake Ashi and its pleasure boats as well. In any case, we highly recommend a visit to Hakone in the middle of a visit to Tokyo - it is refreshing to the spirit if you are feeling wearied by crowds, and a reminder that much of Japan is almost empty of people. This ryokan is an excellent base for exploring the area, while you return every evening to traditional Japanese hospitality.

We had a great time staying at Kiritani! It is everything you would expect and hope for in a Japanese Onsen. If you are making a two day trip out of your visit to Hakone (which I would recommend) Kiritani is an excellent place for your stopover with a lovely private onsen.

Going to Onsen is not new to me as my husband is Japanese but I was a bit worried when I made a booking in Ryokan Kiritani because it was a little gift from me to in-laws and knowing them always staying in the penthouse where ever they go, i'm like..."ok, here we go!"
And to make the story short, my two boys (20&17 yo)who haven't been to Onsen, my husband and my in-laws enjoyed every bit of it. The food was great. The price is affordable and everyone are polite and friendly. Love love this place and will recommend. Thank you to all the staff especially to the gift that they gave to my two boys "koinoburi". See you all again soon!

On a Saturday and Sunday November 2011 we made a Hakone roundtrip Shinjuku Station, Odawara, Gora, Sounzan, Togandai,Lake Ashi, Hakone-Machi.
We visited Owakudani volcanic zone and eat black eggs, the Open air museum with a very nice garden and sculptures, traveled by ship over lake Ashi, Onshi Hakone garden and Check point. Because of the cloudy weather we could not see Mt. Fuji.
Traveling by train, cable car, ropeway and ship is very convenient when you use Hakone Free pass.
Ryokan Kiritoni Hakonese is a nice ryokan with friendly people. The location is ideal, halfway the roundtrip, and nearby Koenkami Station of the cable car.
Sakura Room has a nice view over the mountains, and we slapped rather comfortable in the Futon.
Don't forget to visit the hot springs (Onsen) in the ryokan.
We used the standard Japanese dinner, which was very, very good, with a good hostess.
Also breakfast was very good, but rather difficult to eat for western visitors.
We can advise to visit Ryokan Kiritoni Hakonese, sure you will have a good time there.

Many thanks to contact us.
Now we are very fond of your country .
In Kiritani, we enjoyed the japonese hospitality, its was a nice experience for us.
We just regret not to use the private "onsen", the water was so hot, that it was impossible for my wife and me to try, but we think that japenese people use to have hot water like that : for us it was very much too hot.
Kiritani is a good adress, we'll recommand it, well located in that area.

We stayed at Ryokan Kiritani Hakoneso for one night. It was an amazing traditional japanese experience! The staff didn't speak much English but they were really polite and nice.
The baths were relaxing and just the best temperature. The traditional japanese food was also a very interesting experience.
Overall our stay at the ryokan was relaxing and cozy. Next day we made a trip to the lake Ashi, it was a beautiful place and the ryokan staff took care of our luggage in the meantime.
If you're going to travel to some big city like Tokyo, this is a great way to see the other, traditional side of Japan.

The Kiritani Hakoneso is a fantastic place to stay. We went right after the New Year rush and had most of the place to ourselves. Really fantastic experience. I highly recommend staying here.

We also enjoyed the Japanese dinner and breaksfast. Thanks again for your staff's great hospitality. A suggestion to improve your service is to have an international phone call access and internet for your guests particularly overseas guests who want to contact their families when caught during a natural disaster.

I enjoyed my stay at Kiritani Hakoneso very much. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. On our way from the station to the ryokan, it was snowing heavily and the helpful staff did not hesitate to help us in lugging our heavy baggage up the slope to the ryokan. We also received a warm welcome from the staff when we reached the ryokan. The spread of food was fantastic and the hot spring was just great. After checking out, one of the staff drove us to the train station which saved us a great deal of trouble. We are extremely impressed with the wonderful service provided. I would definitely recommend my friends to visit this ryokan.

I think Kiritani Hakoneso is a fantastic Ryokan and moreover it is quite cheap compared to other structures I contacted.
Guests are dealt with every attention and care and everything has been perfect!
Sleeping in the Ryokan has been one of the most exiting experience during our staying in Japan... here one can "feel" the real atmosphere and the quiteness of this wonderful country.
I suggest everyone to try sleeping and living for some time in this places. a great thank to all the staff of Kiritani Hakoneso as the contributed to make our holiday as special as it was!

It was so interesting to feel real life of Japan tradition at Ryokan Kiritani Hakoneso. Furthermore, onsen was my first time experience and Ryokan Kiritani offered best private onsen for beginners like me. The workers can understand english and some of them can even speak in englsih.
But maybe you should improve your signage in future. There is no guide to Ryokan Kiritani when we arrived at keonkami station on 5.30 pm. Maybe we miss it somewhere because it was so dark at that time. But it seems that all the signage was in hatagana/hiragana and we do not know how to read it. We wanted to call Ryokan Kiritani but we couldn't find public phone at that area. So, we went house to house or maybe ryokan to ryokan, people surrounding to ask where was Ryokan kiritani located that night. For us, it was like amazing race Japan version as dinner will not be served after 8 p.m. Finally we manage to reach at ryokan around 6.05 p.m which actually will take about 5 minutes if you walk from koenkami station to ryokan kiritani (according to information on the internet).
Nevertheless, we enjoy our stay there and hope can comeback again especially for onsen!..;D Yes, I will recommend this ryokan to my friends if they want to feel real life of Japan.

It was a delightful experience due to the nice courtesy of the people, the accommodation and the food.
Not to mention the opportunity to stay a long relaxing while in the healing private onsen.
It was a wonderful opportunity to take a "traditional" breath away from the noise in a reddening nature under the the Fuji-San.

A great place to chill (and indeed cook in the Onsen)after spending time in Tokyo. Dinner was absolutely fantastic but I'm afraid I could not cope with the dried fish with breakfast.
I would highly recommend staying here and the price was very reasonable for the room and service.

... In my mind, there will always be the experience of staying at Kiritani Hakoneso (桐谷箱根荘), a hot springs ryokan on Mount Hakone that took me in after a long day and night of climbing Fuji. Eating a full Japanese dinner in a private room with shamisen music playing in the background… I love how the Japanese separate each dish so you don't mix one food with some undesirable flavor...

It's been a long time since I last did onsen with "Nigori-yu". I stayed at the Annex building. They have onsen baths in both Annex and Main building and I could try all of them. It was really nice. I even tried the private family onsen which is free. I will come again when I have the chance.

The staff are really polite. There were many different dishes for dinner. All very tasty. The Manageress came to greet us during dinner which was nice. We enjoyed the private onsen bath also.

The onsen was a bit too hot for me. But I liked the private onsen bath. The hot pot dish at dinner was excellent, also the fried egg (Tamogo-yaki) in breakfast. I ate a lot of rice. Thank you very much. I hope to come again.

The bath was a bit too hot. I was too lazy to go to the Main Building to try the onsen baths there but the ones at the Annex where I stayed were good. I was the only at the onsen so I could really enjoy and relax. There was a large variety of dishes at dinner. I was really satisfied. I stayed at a room in the "Sakura Pavilion" this time. The view was great. I want to come again during the "Daimoji-yaki" festival where I can see the burning word on the mountain from the room.
